MARIA BERRY began her medical studies 26 years ago.  She studied western
medicine AND Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in the UK and China. She is an
insured and accredited practitioner of Chinese medicine in Queensland. She also
has a degree in Chinese Language from the University of London.

LONDON, UK. 1985-1995 After studying in China, Maria helped set up the University
of Westminster degree in TCM at which she taught for 10 years.
In an orthopedic clinic in London's Harley Street, Maria specialized in treating lots of
acute injury & helping athletes to improve performance. She extended her work to
include rehabilitation.  Acupuncture is useful after joint replacement, any surgery or
to recover from the effects of a stroke.  It is also useful for resolving chronic pain
conditions such as back pain, neuralgia, myalgia, RSI and arthritis. Hillingdon
Hospital hired Maria as a consultant to research acupuncture treatment for the
syndromes affecting breast cancer patients and acupuncture treatment of
menopausal symptoms.  Both trials showed acupuncture to have a positive and
lasting effect.

HONG KONG 1995-2001 The close proximity to China allowed Maria to visit hospital
departments regularly and extend her range of treatments especially in the areas of
gynaecology, obstetrics and pediatrics.  In Hong Kong she was associated with an
infertility clinic.  She helped hundreds of couples resolve their infertility; she used
acupuncture to treat pregnant women for a wide range of conditions; to induce labor
and assist  throughout delivery; she also treated many children (no needles) and
taught family’s how to manage chronic conditions (eg: asthma, eczema) with
Chinese herbal medicines.

SINGAPORE 2003-2005  The University of Singapore is funding research into the
use of Chinese herbs to treat heart disease.  Maria was able to participate in this
project.
